Living With An Enlightened Person

By Eckhart Tolle

It is not easy to live with an enlightened person because the ego finds it extremely threatening. If your partner, friend or family member is still mostly identified with their mind, this will represent a major challenge — not to you, but to your partner.

Remember that the ego needs problems, conflict, and "enemies" to strengthen the sense of separateness on which its identity depends for survival.

The unenlightened person’s mind will be deeply frustrated because its fixed positions are not resisted by the enlightened person. The ego demands feedback and not getting it, it will manifest arguments, drama, and conflict.

Beware because unenlightened people who are cut off from their feelings may try to convince you that they are enlightened or at least that there is "nothing wrong" with them and that there is something wrong with you.

Men tend to do this more than women. They often see their female partners as irrational or too emotional. But if you can feel your healing feelings, you are never far away from the truth of what is.

Dawn at Illuminations,

Hello, my name is Doug and I have a blog with the same name, IllumiNations at www.illuminations.blogs.com. I just did a blog search on Google and it turned up your page close to mine. I thought it would be interesting to leave a comment and let you know. I know we probably come at life from a little different perspective, but I appreciated what I read at your site.

Doug
